Yay! Very exciting! This has to set for about a week and then they will start framing. The house looks small again with the forms up. It's just hard to believe they will be able to fit all those rooms in that little space. I'm sure it will look bigger once the framing is done though. We'll just have to wait and see!

Footing!
I drove by the lot this afternoon and was very surprised to see work being done! I really wasn't expecting anyone to be doing anything today. So yep, as you can see...they did the footing.
While Kyle and I were out there checking it out, our neighbors (who live in that house behind our lot that you can see) came by and introduced themselves. They are a little older than us (40's) but were really nice.
The truck with all of the forms was parked on the side of the road. So I'm hoping that means they will be putting the forms up tomorrow.

They dug the hole!!...Finally!!!!
Yay!!! They finally broke ground! Kyle and I both thought this day would never come. It took weeeeeeeeeeeeeeks!!!! Like seriously, this should've been done weeks ago. It looks a lot bigger than what the stake layout looked. This actually looks like the size of our house. (It looks a lot bigger in person) This view is facing the way our house will....I'm kind of at an angle but you get the idea. So, yep....we are verrrry excited!
Next, they will pour the basement...and I think that has to set for a week or two.
The lot has been staked!

They finally staked the lot! We went out and walked through the stakes and wow, it seemed SO small!!! I mean, look! Those pink stakes are the outline of the house! How?! It doesn't seem right but I know it is. Anyway, it took them forever and a frickin day to put stakes out there. Next step, they get the building permit and break ground!
The Lot!

We are building in New Carlisle in a subdivision called Wintergreen Meadows. There are only about 5 houses in the subdivison. Doesn't look like a subdivision does it? That's because we will be on the outskirts of it. Right before you get to our lot is the entrance for Wintergreen Meadows...so it's actually behind us...where that house is. At the time when we went to pick out our lot, we had lots 7,8,9 and 10 to choose from. Lot 10 is the corner lot. We picked the first lot, lot 7. The reason we picked lot 7 is because where you see those little pine trees there is a retention pond. Lot 7 has the least amount of it. But we still have a good size yard...even with the pond there. The house will sit 50 ft from the road. And our driveway will be the shape of a dog leg. If you can picture that.
Final design and colors!

We had to add 50 more sq. ft. in order to be able to build where we wanted. Another requirement of the subdivision we're building in was that the house had to have some kind of stone or brick. So, Meridith (the lady we're working with) played on her little computer and came up with this design. She basically just pulled the garage out and added the stone. We like this design so much better!
Here are the colors we picked out:
Siding- prairie (dark tan)
Shutters & front door- burgundy
Stone- Monticello w/ Monarch...kind of hard to explain what this looks like but it goes well with the siding and shutter color.
Roof- driftwood (which is like a light brown I think)
Garage door- White. We originally went with dark brown but then decided to have white corners on the house so we thought the garage door would look better white.
As far as the interior colors, we went with a maple color cabinet and the countertop color is called tungsten...but I can't remember what it looks like. Haha! All black appliances, neutral color carpet and paint. We're doing all vinyl- no ceramic tiles.
Picking out the house

As most of you know who are reading this, Kyle and I are building a house! Our first house! It's really Kyle who is technically building it but it is for us and we are making decisions together so I'm saying it's OUR house!
The house we are building is called the Regina 4. It is the one we both liked the most out of all of them...well, except for the really nice, expensive ones! It is just a basic ranch...3 bedrooms, 2 baths, full unfinished (for now) basement, 2 car garage, living room, dining room, kitchen. It has vaulted ceilings which we are soooo excited about!
