Roof is done and we have a garage door!

It was a good end to the week for the house. All the shingles are on, the garage door is installed and the house is sealed! I couldn't even get into the house because they locked it...which is good. But, it looks like most of the electrical work and plumbing is done...just waiting on inspection and then they can do the siding and the dry wall or sheet rock...whatever you wanna call it. Haha!
Our appt. last week was cancelled so we re-scheduled for this Tues. So we'll be picking out floors then.
We are finally...well not we because I don't have a job yet, but Kyle is financially where he wants to be so we went and picked out a sectional and put a down payment on it. So that's exciting because I didn't think we'd be doing that just yet.
We're getting closer!!!! =)

The start of shingles!!!

We have shingles on our roof! Finally! I was wondering when they were gonna start on this. Hopefully they can get all of them up there by the weekend, that'd be nice to see. They also did more electrical and plumbing work. They framed the 2 doors we have. (little things excite me, haha!) and the front door has a temporary door knob so we can actually close the door and lock it. Haha! Not that it really matters. So that's kind of what the picture of the front door foyer area is about and I also wanted to post a pic of the awesome plant ledge we have! So excited about that! We actually have two but the one is SO big with the vaulted ceilings...I didn't even expect it to be that big. So that will be fun to decorate. We have another house appt. tomorrow...probably the last one before the final closing. We'll finally get to decide what kind of floors we'll have...I'm hoping for hardwood but we'll see.

Garage and front porch are poured!

This is what they did today...along with more plumbing and electrical work. Our basement still isn't poured and they didn't even touch the roof today. Anyway, I like our front porch...it is bigger than I expected. I wasn't able to get a picture from the front because the yard was flooded and muddy. But, it looks good! Hopefully tomorrow we have a roof because our floor boards are getting wet and it looks like the rain isn't done yet.

Electric, plumbing, doors, tubs!

So, the electric and plumbing was started, we have our tub in the main bathroom and the shower in the master bathroom, and they took the cover off of the door so now you can see what it looks like. We ended up changing the doors for the interior. They will still be the 2 panel arch except they will have lines down the middle...I thought they were cute. What else...ummm, the picture of the house was taken before the storm on Friday...it doesn't look like that anymore, haha! A lot of the tar paper was ripped off...not too bad tho. But the house is ready for siding and shingles...so hopefully by Friday we will see one or both of those. The picture of the window is a view of our kitchen...I don't think I've ever posted a pic of it before. It isn't a huge kitchen but it's big enough for us. We had a house appt. last week where we picked out the rest of the colors and other stuff. We decided to get the same color cabinets in the bathrooms that we have in the kitchen. The paint color we picked is called china doll and it is a really pretty dark tan...that will go all throughout the house. The sink colors for the bathroom will be almond/white. We didn't get a chance to pick out vinyl colors because she didn't have the samples with her so we might upgrade to wood laminate....which I think will be so pretty. It all depends on how much more expensive it is. So we'll see.

Windows, Doors and Shingles Oh My!

Okay so we have windows, which you already knew, and dooooors! AND the shingles are ready to be put on! Yay! The front door will be painted burgundy to match the shutters and we'll probably just leave the garage door white. The door is a 2 panel arch door instead of a 6 panel. It was an upgrade that we got for free. So all of the interior doors will match that. You'll see it soon. Haha! But anyway, we walked through the house today and it seemed a lot bigger for some reason. Maybe because they took all of the support beams or whatever out. I just can't wait until it is DONE! I'm ready to start decorating!!!!!!!!!

We have windows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes!!!!! Definitely was not expecting this to happen today....so, very exciting!! We also got a call today from Meridith and she said that the plumbing and electric peoples will be out on Friday! Yaaay! Sorry the picture isn't that great. I spent the evening at Kyle's and couldn't wait until tomorrow to see it so I stopped by on my way home....and then my camera died. I did go in to look around and we have our sliding glass door installed too. Hopefully tomorrow I can get out there during the day to get a better picture. I love the windows tho! They are super cute. I am just a little disappointed tho because the back 3 living room windows aren't like the front windows. They are just plain. Oh well, not a big deal. I'm still happy!

More roof work...

Well, they skipped a day of work...not sure why. But the following day they added more tar paper and that's about it. This part seems to be taking awhile tho. Which, whatever. We originally wanted our house to be done by June 22nd so we could get the first time home buyers tax credit, but we went to H&R Block last week and it looks like we're getting it anyway. So, that is super exciting. We still want our house to be done asap, but no worries if it takes a little longer. I'm hoping to be able to post a good picture on Friday with maybe some shingles or windows or SOMETHING other than this house made of lumber. We'll just have to wait and see!

The roof has been started!

So the plywood boards and tar paperwas started. Which means, they will hopefully be putting up shingles tomorrow. Yay! My step-dad went over there today and talked to the construction workers about the house. He made up a story about how he had relatives looking for a house in this area and was wondering if they decided to build a house with them, about how long would it take from start to finish. They explained to him all that goes into it and kind of explained where they were on our house. They said that this house could very well be done by the end of this month. So that was exciting to hear. Maybe they will be done on time. I will be shocked if they are.

More framing!!!!!!!!

This was even more exciting! We got to see how the vaulted ceilings would look...we like! It seems like they're sooo close but there is still sooo much left to do. But, it only took them 3 days to do the floor and frame all of this....so that gives us hope. We'll just have to see I guess. The second picture is a view of the living room and dining room. You can see the pantry to the very left and the kitchen is in front. The pantry is the only thing that separates these 3 rooms. That window is facing the back of the house...pretty sweet view. And then the sliding glass doors in the dining room. You can kind of see the vaulted ceiling too! Kyle's mom and little sister came with us...that's who you see in the pictures...haha!
Can't wait to see what they do tomorrow!

Lots of framing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was very exciting to see this! We got to go in and walk around and see how it was gonna look...kind of. It was neat. This is the part I was looking forward to the most...besides it being done! But yes, they are moving very quickly on this house...hopefully it stays this way.

Floor is done and we have a wall!

We couldn't believe it! I drove by once in the morning to see if they were out and they were...finishing up the other side of the floor. I drove by again after my hair appt. which was about 5 hours later and the floor was done! Then Kyle came over and we drove over to take a pic and we had a wall!!!! That was very exciting to see! This is the wall where the master bedroom, hallway bathroom and another bedroom will be. That hole is where the stairs to the basement will be.
I can't wait to see what they get done tomorrow!!! At this rate, our house could very well be done by the end of the month!!

The beginning of framing!

The forms are off, the concrete is sealed, the backfill is in and they started the floor framing. Yay! They are really moving on this. They've been out there every single day since they first dug the hole. So, maybe it'll be done sooner than we think. We hope!!!!
